Delightful December Flowers

The “dead” of winter gives birth to to the most extraordinary flora. The more familiar pansies and poinsettias are cultivars, but incredibly colorful and lush nevertheless.

And just because the home of the dancing carousel, made entirely of roses, is a Las Vegas casino resort doesn’t mean it isn’t breathtaking.

Other winter flora like the Korean dogwood and Winter Berry, of the famous holly family, are simply hardy – and generous- enough to grace us with their deep green foliage and surprising bursts of color just when we need them most.

Poinsettias mark the holiday season with their festive colors
Korean “Kousa” Dogwood berries are edible but you may want to discard the rought bitter skin first
Even Las Vegas resorts celebrate the season – with exquisite delights made of roses and seeds
A type of holly that loses its leaves in the fall, Winterberry is loved by humans and birds alike for the brilliant red berries that light up the winter landscape and provide our feathered friends with much needed nutrients.
